4.4. Meet the Green Ninja

The Green Ninja is a superhero created by faculty and students at San Jose State University who encourages students to take action on climate change.  A series of engagement experiences designed around short, humorous videos and social media connections aim to bring climate science topics into students’ lives, inspire them to take action, and give them the tools they need to do so.

Begin by visiting the Green Ninja web site. Click on the yellow “For Educators” tab at the far right on the top menu for resources to support your teaching of climate change, including the Green Ninja Academy, which supplies videos and text-based materials to help you build your own understanding of climate and energy topics (you watched some of the videos as part of Lesson 2).

Go back to the Main page and select “Videos” from the “Watch the Show” drop-down menu.

Watch “Footprint Renovations”.

After you’ve watched the video, have a look at the accompanying Discussion Guide (listed to the right of the video).

On the Lesson 4 Response Form, reflect upon whether you might use this video in your classroom and briefly discuss whether it would be a useful teaching tool.

Watch two more Green Ninja videos, review their accompanying Discussion Guides.
