Big Ideas to Teach
by Emily Maddox - Monday, 24 November 2014, 3:46 PM

Two big ideas I thought would be important to learn...

  • Students will understand that climate change is a result of excess carbon dioxide in our atmosphere; the greenhouse effect is a natural cycle necessary for life on Earth as we know it to exist -- excess is the key word.
  • Students will understand that there are many different alternative energy sources available.

I will be teaching the first one as a big idea for my classes as well because I feel it is important that students know that there is an excess of CO2 and there is a correlation with that and climate change.

Of course if there is a problem we are creating, there are solutions and different ways to get resources that aren't as harmful.   I am going to focus mainly on energy consumption of individuals, do you plan on covering a lot of different alternatives and briefly going over them?
